Clause and Sentence
Phrase atau frase
merupakan kelompok kata yang tidak terdiri dari subjek dan kata kerja. Phrase bisa berbentuk noun phrase, adjective phrase, verb phrase,
dan prepositional phrase. Phrase bisa dalam banyak bentuk and susunan yang berbeda. Berikut
ini adalah jenis-jenis phrase:
• Gerund phrases
• Infinitive
phrases
• Noun phrases
• Participle
phrases
• Prepositional
phrases
• Verb phrases
Clause tingkatannya
lebih tinggi dari phrase. Merupakan
sekelompok kata yang terdiri dari subjek dan kata kerja. Clause terbagi ke dalam dua bentuk yaitu independent clause dan
dependent clause. Clause yang bisa berdiri sendiri serta dianggap sebuah
kalimat utuh adalah independent clause.
Sementara clause yang membutuhkan clause lain untuk membentuk kalimat utuh
adalah dependent clause. Terdapat dua
jenis utama dari clause, yaitu independent dan dependent clause. Namun juga terdapat
jenis-jenis clause lainnya, seperti
dibawah ini:
• Adverbial
clauses
• Defining dan
non-defining clauses (juga disebut
adjective atau relative clauses)
• Noun clauses
Sentence atau kalimat
merupakan sekelompok kata yang mempunyai subjek dan pradikat. Berbeda dengan dependent clause, sentence merupakan
kesatuan pikiran utuh. Apakah independent
clause termasuk ke dalam sentence?
Ya benar. Independent clause bisa
dikategorikan sebagai sentence atau
kalimat.

Pada saat saya liburan
ke rumah nenek di Bantul, saya menyempatkan datang lagi ke Angkringan Lik Man

kedua sate tersebut, ada pula menu sate lain yaitu, sate kikil, sate tahu, sate
kulit, sate baso, sate telur puyuh, sate usus, sate kepala ayam dan lain-lain. Tak
lupa, saya pun memesan menu yang menjadi menu andalan dan banyak di pesan,
yaitu Kopi Joss. Untuk secangkir kopi joss diharga hanya Rp 4.000, dengan harga
yang cukup murah ini kalian sudah bisa menikmati sensasi meminum kopi dengan
arang bakar di dalamnya. Nama kopi joss ini berasal dari bunyi arang bakar yang
jika dimasukan ke dalam kopi berbunyi “joss”, cukup unik ya guys. Selain kopi
joss dan aneka sate, tak lupa tentu ada menu sego kucing dengan lauk tempe dan lauk
teri dengan harga Rp 2.000 serta aneka gorengan, uli bakar dan minuman lainnya.
